Number 1: When will the car be moved? It takes about the same amount of time for a cross country auto transport as it does for you to simply drive it. Other issues may occur like weather.
Number 2: Call 3 car shipping companies and tell them what kind of car you have, the location your car is moving from and to and when you plan to move. References are always helpful, so be sure to ask.
Number 3: Check with the BBB.
Number 4: make a reservation with the car carrier company two weeks ahead of time. Make sure you have someone there to release it.
Number 5: Ask the auto transport company what kind of insurance coverage the carrier has and if there's a deductible. Read the insurance contract carefully and be sure to ask for a copy.
Number 6: On moving day pay close attention to the movers. The auto shipper carrier should fill out a bill of lading which includes a contract on the condition of the vehicle before being shipped. Unless you agree with the report you shouldn't sign the bill of lading. Some sketchy companies will mark dents and chipped paint just in-case it happens to them while their in transit.
Number 7: Check with a auto transporter review site. We recommend transportreviews DOT com
We hope these 7 easy steps will help you through a safe and secure cross country auto transport experience.
